How to Brew a V60, Step by Step

This guide originally ran on Brew Daily, and we’re syndicating it here with permission because it’s the exact method we use in-house.

What you’ll need

  • 20g coffee, ground medium-fine
  • 320g water at 94°C
  • A V60-style dripper and matching filter
  • A scale and a timer

The method

  1. Rinse the filter with hot water to remove papery taste and preheat the dripper.
  2. Add grounds, level the bed, and start your timer as you pour.
  3. Bloom with 40g water, wait 30 seconds.
  4. Pour the remaining water in slow, concentric circles, finishing by around the 2:30 mark.
  5. Let the brew drain fully before removing the dripper - total time should land around 3 minutes.

Adjust grind size if it runs faster or slower than that window - finer to slow it down, coarser to speed it up.
